Cafe CF South Korea

I had two visits to Cafe CF while we were in Songtan (so two treats)! The first occasion was when I was meeting a woman (leaving out name for privacy) to get a box my parents had sent for my birthday. There is not really any sort of mailbox at the apartment we are at (we are not entirely sure how someone would get mail here) and it is also obviously cheaper to send something to an APO than it would have been regularly internationally anyway. My dad knows/works with a friendly/helpful guy whose equally friendly/helpful wife is stationed at the base here and they were happy to help.

“Locals” Know Best

She suggested the place and I was glad she did! I thought I would get coffee but ended up getting a large ice cream sundae. Despite the cold weather, I was in the mood for ice cream. It was delicious. Ice cream, chocolate, Oreos, whipped cream, and frosted flakes inside. I wasn’t sure at first what to think about the cereal in it but decided it was a really good addition. Cereal is another sort of specialty item here, meaning it costs a little more than in the US. She got a green tea. The clear teacup sat over a little candle in a traditional style. I was not sure how she would feel about me photographing her (or my own food) so I did not and resolved to come back.

The next time, I brought Kyle with me of course. We sat in a different area and I more acutely noticed all the little decorations and details. The place is really cute.

Decorations

We sat down and they gave us the menus (same as before).

Large Selection

ne has drinks (tea, coffee, juice, alcoholic drinks, etc.) and the other has various dessert-like items like waffles, parfaits, honey bread, etc. This time we also wanted ice cream (we like ice cream!) After taking a few minutes to look at the many menu choices (some of which are seasonal), we decided on the Strawberry Parfait.

Strawberry Parfait

When we went to order we were told that there must be two orders per table so we tried to find one of the cheapest alcoholic options we could find: a “Tequila Cocktail”.

The parfait was very good. It tasted like ice cream to me but could have been frozen yogurt. There were strawberries, a Pepero stick, an Ooreo, whipped cream, and some cereal as well. We enjoyed sharing it.

Fruits Parfait

It even came with happy spoons.

Good Tequila

The Tequila Cocktail was a short of tequila with lemons, salt, and coffee pieces. We each took a lemon and took turns licking the salt, taking a sip and having the lemon and coffee (I think that’s how we did it at first). Afterwards we kind of just dipped the lemons in coffee and salt. Kyle said he thought the Tequila tasted like it was good quality.

I would say the prices are not too far off from what you might expect in the US but when I really think about it, they are actually quite a bit less, maybe half the price of what you would expect many places. I think I am just starting to think of normal prices as expensive and cheaper as normal.

How to get to Cafe CF:

This street is located on “the Ville” street. Coming from Osan walk straight and it will be on the right on the second floor after a little bit.
