New to Married with Maps?
Welcome to Married with Maps! We are Briana and Kyle, a married couple, and travel is kind of our thing. Chances are that you’ve arrived at our site and have found yourself lost and don’t really know where to go. That’s okay! We have found ourselves in that same situation far more often than not while on the road and we’re here to help. While we do get lost, we always find our way back to the trail and on our way – and that’s what we are hoping to do for you!
What are we all about?
Between the two of us, we have a fair bit of experience traveling, in multiple styles. While we do tend to focus on places far away from our home, we love exploring in our own backyard too. We don’t think there is anything wrong with walking the tourist paths – we do it plenty – but we find that striking out on your own path and following the style of the locals can be just as – if not more – rewarding.
We want to let you follow along with us and share in our adventures, and hopefully be inspired to set out on your own. Through trial and error – big focus on the latter – we have a bunch of tips and tricks on getting your travel experience to be exactly what you want.
How did this whole thing start?
While we each had done travel in some way throughout our lives, our big leap into the world came shortly after we got married and right around the time we created this site. A life-changing event pushed us to explore new options in the world, and suddenly the world was open to us. A nomadic lifestyle seemed to suit us well and take us through some twists and turns though we no longer live that way.
How to use our Site
We’ve broken our site down into easy to navigate chunks. You can follow the menu at the top to get where you want to go, and each of our menus can be further explored with a drop-down menu. Interested in destinations? Go to ‘Explore the World’, where we’ve laid out some of the countries we’ve been to (or at least the places we’ve written posts for); they’re divided into their geographic regions. If you’re interested in how we budget our travels and want to know how you can do, just look under ‘Budget’. In ‘Resources’, we provide you with access to all our tips and tricks to make your travels smoother. And of course, if you’ve still got a few questions, ‘About’ is the place to go to find your answer or ask us something we haven’t answered yet.
